Pt Pal is utilized in both clinical care and research settings. Please be aware that a Pt Pal Clinician is required to register patients on the app. If you do not have a Pt Pal Clinician, please contact us prior to registering.

Pt Pal Pro is designed to be used in conjunction with your physical, occupational, and/or speech therapists, or any healthcare professional providing paper instructions or surveys to patients, including those specializing in Cardiac Rehab, Brain Injury, Women's Health, IVF, OB, and Wound Care.

Pt Pal Pro enables clinicians to transition from paper-based instructions and surveys to sending medical instructions, tasks, exercises, and activities directly to patients' smartphones. Leveraging CareKit, ResearchKit, and HealthKit frameworks, Pt Pal Pro is the first healthcare application to incorporate Apple’s CareKit and HealthKit, a highlight at WWDC 2016.

Pt Pal utilizes CareKit for health monitoring, symptom tracking, and sharing information with healthcare providers. This feature empowers users to actively understand and manage their health conditions in collaboration with their care team. Additionally, Pt Pal integrates with the Health App to display daily step counts collected by the iPhone’s accelerometer to clinicians.

Pt Pal Pro employs CareKit and ResearchKit offering various features for clinical practice and research:

 <li>Activities: Enables clinicians to send care tasks, education materials, exercises, and surveys for progress monitoring and active intervention. Surveys encompass Patient Reported Outcomes, Journals, Logs (e.g., Food, Fluids, Wounds, Sleep), Brain Injury recovery progress, among others.</li>
 <li>Reminders: Sends notifications to remind patients of scheduled tasks and alerts if any tasks are pending.</li>
 <li>Complex healthcare interventions: Allows for the transmission of information in diverse formats and includes tools like noise distractions during exercises for focus tracking.</li>
 <li>Multi-media interface: Provides written self-care instructions and caregiving information along with the capability to record videos with clinicians for reference.</li>
 <li>Dashboard: Offers a visual representation of completion data as patients progress through care tasks.</li>
 <li>Care Team: Consolidates the care team’s information within the app for easy access.</li>
 <li>Connect: Facilitates communication between patients and their clinicians regarding their healthcare.</li>
 <li>Caregiver: Allows support partners to participate in the care process by monitoring patient progress and receiving necessary information for effective caregiving. This feature is vital for both self-care of caregivers and efficient patient care management.</li>
 <li>Consent: Enables patients to digitally sign consent agreements directly within the app using their signature.</li>
 <li>Tracking: Monitors recovery progress, wellness indicators including medication reminders, appointments, and other essential healthcare details crucial to successful recovery outcomes.</li>

Pt Pal requests authorization to retrieve HealthKit data which includes heart rate, sleep data, step count, walking/running distance, and workout details. This data collection is solely intended for enhancing patient care and monitoring healthcare progress without any sharing with third parties. For patients, Pt Pal Pro serves as an invaluable healthcare assistant offering assistance in exercise scheduling, guidance on proper exercise techniques as prescribed by therapists, audible counting during exercises, and personalized progress tracking.
